  • how does the double points event work for dropping an event?

    how does the double point event play into dropping one event for HSAX points? If you drop this event, then are you dropping two events?

    what happens if someone can't make this event and makes the rest? Do they potentially knock themselves out of the running for a class championship since they lose the ability to earn 2000 pts instead of 1000?

    thanks

      I don't get the double points bit either. Even the "why" of it is beyond me, what's the point? No pun intended. Another ? is how is the cash prize gonna work for the event that's paying out $3,000?

        Does anyone have any idea how this will be handled? I'm sure there are people, including my self, that need to know if you need this event to have a chance at the championship.

              Seeing as there are only 4 events that count towards to the championship this year, if all four events are run there is a chance that, that event will not be the one that gets dropped. The GCR states that the lowest points day will be dropped.

              With that in mind, I would highly recommend that if you want to get a championship, you will need to run that event.

              Because there are only 4 events for HSAX this year, I would highly recommend that everyone runs all four events! Get out and get that track time!

                there are 5. 10/7 and 10/8 are back to back HSAX. Unless something changed??

                Did anyone give thought that a lot of people are not off of work on 7/3 and will need to take a vacation day?

                  As far as I'm aware, 10/7 and 10/8 are being treated as two separate events.

                  Double points is possibly an incentive to be there on 7/3. Yes, it's been brought up, but it's up to the presenting club to choose their event.

                  I'd suggest someone from the HSAX community be at the board meeting May 11th, 8pm, Sam's Ristorante off of Riverside Blvd in Rockford IL to bring these points up to not only the Competition Board, but also the presenting club representatives.

                  As far as points, I don't know who takes care of the HSAX points at the moment, but they or maybe Mr. Palmer, might know the answer.

                    I wanted clarify this portion so no one is confused. A club cannot just decide on it's own an event is worth double points. A club must get board approval from MC since MC is the sanctioning body that the championship is with.

                      Clarification on HSAX events in 2017

                      I was reading the Forum comments and can offer some clarity on this seasons events:

                      1. the event on 10/7 and 10/8 will be 2 separate events, Saturday 10/7 will be the final council points event for the season. Sunday 10/8 will be a separate event with prize money, there will be at least 2 purses for the event on both the fastest car and the most consistent, more details will follow as they are finalized.

                      2. there are 4 events for HSAX points in 2017, and there will be 1 drop, the General Comp rules require only 3 events for a season.

                      3. the July 3rd event was requested and approved by the board at the time of race picks, because the event falls on a workday the sponsoring club wanted to assure some guaranteed attendance, i personally don't agree with having an event worth more than others but i understand why they did it, and without that race day we would only have had 3 events for the year.

                      season point breakdown:
                      4 events / with 1 drop
                      3 = worth 1000 points
                      1 = worth 2000 points (July 3rd)

                      max points 5000 - (lowest point for year drop) = total

                      you will need to 51% of the total events to be eligible for season points
                      thus you need 3 events in 2017.

                      i hope this helps clear up some of the confusion.
